“The description part of a pin on Pinterest is one of the most important parts. Many people don’t spend much time writing Pinterest pin descriptions.”
Give your audience something of interest they can use or recreate and you'll gather new followers in no time
1. Promote Pinterest on Your Website
Putting a pinterest pin button enabling users to pin your product, image or page directly to pinterest is a great way to encourage them to do so.. Sometimes it’s even better when it’s a pinner spreading the word of mouth instead of you promoting your own products, and these pins can carry more weight. TIP: Include a Link: An easier way to get someone to visit the page to check out the product or the content is by including a link in the description.
2. Engage with your users | Followers
You have to think about your target audience on Pinterest and how to reach them. The more you can do to encourage customer interaction, the better relationships you will have with them. Pinterest is a social network, engage with your audience by thanking them when they re-pin your items, follow other users and it will encourage them to follow you. TIP: Use call to action words and or descriptions like : ‘Please Repin’ or ‘Please Like’ to get more ‘Repins’ or ‘Likes’ respectively.
3. Create vertical images (Portrait)
Pinterest images should be long and narrow to maximize your real estate! Look at your favorite pins and see what the images have in common so you see what types of images are repinned and shared. My images are up to 735 pixels by 1102 pixels. This creates an engaging invitation to repin your pinned article. Click here to see the difference between portrait and vertical pins.
4. Maximize your SEO Efforts
While writing a description about your image, you can use your targeted keywords that will attract your target customers (audience) and encourage them to visit your site.
SEO = Search Engine Optimization
5. Create boards with keywords in your title
Pinterest has fantastic search capabilities. Use keywords in your board titles and more people will find your business. Make sure that you select a category for each board to help people find them and for Pinterest to recommend your board as well.
6. Use a description in your boards and pins
Again, use keywords in your descriptions and it helps with Pinterest search results. TIP: it’s not just enough if you use a single character or write a random description because you have to, you need to write a long description which is at least 300 characters long.
7. Share your products
Offer exclusive content. The best way to use pinterest for your business is to pin your own products to share with other users. Users can also create a “best of” board, showing off their best products.
8. Add price tag to your products
When you create an entry for your pins, you can add a price tag. When you select this option, you can then add a link, pointing to your website.
TIP: When you add the dollar ($) or pound (£) sign to the pin description and follow it with a number, the number added along with the currency sign is displayed attractively (as the price) on the image part of the pin itself
9. Offer added value
Offering other users more reasons to visit your profile by giving them added value. Pining to other products and services will not only benefit your visitors but will also complement your own products
10. Highlight Services
Pinterest can be used as a marketing tool to showcase photos that inspire or that share a message about your work. TIP: Use Place Pins to Highlight Local Businesses on Pinterest
